Shar.cc Temporary Event Registration Pilot Privacy Notice
Effective date: August 26, 2026
This Privacy Notice explains how Shar.cc, the operator of Shar.cc, handles information collected through the temporary Shar.cc early access registration pilot at shar.cc and join.shar.cc.
1. What this pilot is
The pilot lets people create a temporary early access account, verify an email address, establish a password, reserve one provisional username, enter an optional Invite Code, choose whether to receive marketing updates, and optionally connect a Twitch identity when that feature is available.
The pilot does not create a live creator site, a final public Shar.cc route, Baseline or Pro access, a paid subscription, or a permanent Shar.cc badge award.
2. Information we collect
We may collect:
- your email address and its verification status
- a securely hashed version of your password
- your registration date and account status
- the provisional username you choose
- an optional Invite Code and the related attribution record
- your policy acceptance and age-eligibility attestation
- your optional marketing-email preference and the time it changed
- an immutable Twitch account identifier and limited display information if you choose to connect Twitch
- session, browser, IP-address, request, rate-limit, bot-protection, audit, and security information needed to operate and protect the pilot
- messages you send to Shar.cc support or privacy contacts
We do not ask for your full birthdate, street address, phone number, creator-site content, Twitch subscription status, or payment information through this pilot.
3. How we use information
We use pilot information to:
- create, verify, authenticate, recover, and secure your temporary account
- reserve and manage a provisional username
- record Invite Code attribution
- display pilot badges derived from your registration, Invite Code, and optional Twitch connection
- operate the user and administrator dashboards
- prevent spam, fraud, flooding, account abuse, and conflicting username reservations
- investigate errors, support requests, and security incidents
- maintain audit and migration evidence
- prepare a controlled future migration into the main Shar.cc application
- send product news only when you separately consent to marketing email
4. Transactional and marketing email
Verification, password-reset, and account-security messages are transactional. We may send them to operate or protect your account even when you do not consent to marketing email.
Marketing consent is optional and unchecked by default. You may change your marketing preference from the pilot dashboard or contact support@shar.cc. The launch pilot does not itself include a general marketing campaign sender.
5. Provisional usernames
A pilot username is a provisional reservation only. It is not a public Shar.cc address and does not create a creator site. During migration, Shar.cc may require revalidation or reconfirmation and may reject or correct a reservation that conflicts with the main application's then-current rules, protected names, existing claims, or integrity requirements.
If an administrator deactivates your pilot account, the provisional username is released and may become available to someone else. Your email and account record remain retained so the account can be restored unless a separate verified deletion request is completed.
6. Twitch
Twitch linking is optional. When enabled and used, Shar.cc stores the immutable Twitch account identifier and limited display information needed to show the connection. Shar.cc does not use a matching Twitch email address to merge accounts and does not retain Twitch OAuth access or refresh tokens after the linking flow completes.
Twitch is a separate service with its own privacy practices. Twitch is a trademark of Twitch Interactive, Inc. Shar.cc is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Twitch.
7. Service providers
Shar.cc may use service providers for hosting, database operation, email delivery, domain and TLS services, bot protection, error and security operations, and optional Twitch identity linking. These providers process information on Shar.cc's behalf or under their own terms where applicable.
Current pilot categories may include:
- the dedicated hosting environment
- a transactional email provider such as Resend
- Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection
- Twitch for optional identity linking
Shar.cc does not sell your personal information.
8. Cookies and similar technology
The public marketing site at shar.cc is designed not to use the pilot account session cookie.
The authenticated pilot at join.shar.cc uses a host-only secure session cookie and related security mechanisms to keep you signed in, protect forms, enforce rate limits, and prevent abuse. The pilot does not use advertising cookies or third-party marketing pixels.
9. Retention
Shar.cc retains active and deactivated pilot account information while the pilot remains active, while migration or support work is pending, or as needed for security, legal, audit, dispute, or integrity purposes.
Deactivation is not deletion. It blocks account access, revokes sessions, and releases the provisional username while preserving the account and history for possible restoration or migration.
You may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting privacy@shar.cc. Shar.cc may need to verify the request and may retain limited security, suppression, dispute, or legal records where appropriate. Backup copies may remain for a limited period and will be handled through the applicable restore and deletion process.
10. Migration into the main Shar.cc application
Pilot information may later be exported and reviewed for migration. Shar.cc will not transfer password hashes, active sessions, reset or verification tokens, OAuth tokens, Turnstile tokens, or secrets. You should expect to create a new password and may need to verify your email, Twitch connection, and provisional username again.
Invite Code use and pilot badges are not automatically converted into creator access, entitlements, verification, or final badge awards.
11. Security
Shar.cc uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect pilot information, including encrypted transport, password hashing, email verification, host-only sessions, rate limits, bot protection, administrator MFA, database constraints, audit records, and backups.
No online service can guarantee absolute security or availability. Please use a unique password and contact support@shar.cc if you believe your account is at risk.
12. Age
The pilot is intended for people who are at least 16 years old. Shar.cc collects an age attestation rather than a full birthdate. Do not register if you are under 16.
13. International use
The pilot is operated from Nevada, United States, and information may be processed in the United States or other locations used by service providers. By using the pilot, you understand that privacy rules may differ from those in your location.
14. Changes
Shar.cc may update this notice as the pilot, providers, or migration plan changes. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date and policy version. When a new acceptance is needed, the pilot may require it before continued use.
